In case you were unaware Edmunds has a pretty awesome long term test fleet. One of the cars in the barracks used to be an CL65 AMG which has to be one of finest luxury cars from the 00’s.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

The spent over 11k in maintence and it looks like a of it was from the stupid Active Body Control system. It is too bad you can’t master that system because if you could this would be an amazing car to own. A V12 grand touring luxury car.

Such a good looking car and what an engine.

Yeah but they had everything done at a dealer (which for some of those repairs they really had no choice). We need tavarish in hur

Someone should post this every time Tavarish does a ‘why drive *reliable car* when you can drive *unreliable luxury car* for less!’

I wonder if it’s possible to just put coilovers on these. I know that is a pretty common swap for the R129’s.

That’s what service contracts are for.

Yes. However, it ruins them. It’s a swap meant for air suspension cars that have sway bars. These do not have sway bars because the hydraulics do that job. Also, the hydraulic pump is also used for steering, so you can’t get rid of it even though it’s one of the main concerns of the ABC system. Also, warning lights/messages.

I am kind of AMG stupid, even though I would love a V12 S-Class. Does the ABC come on all of the newer cars or is it just some of them.

It would have been interesting to see how much cheaper this would have been if they DIY

Damn shame the repairs are so expensive. I guess you need to have a big bank account or DIY to own this phenomenal car

Random question: w204 is approaching 70k. Got a message saying service A is due in 30 days. Isn't that a 30k service? Shouldn't it be service B?

No he should put that in his articles. It really dulls his argument if maintenance cost is included in half of his posts.

Just some. Not very many actually. S and SL in certain trim levels.

Yeah pretty much. Or like an insurance policy against problems. Pay a company a few grand to have a bunch of things covered. Pretty much the same as a carmax warranty, just from a different company that specializes in that area.

Service A is a “minor” service on odd intervals. Service B is a “major” on even intervals. So no, that is correct. So it should be inspection items, oil change, lube hinges and sunroof, rotate, and wipers pretty much. Should have had spark plugs and brake fluid done at 60k, as well as A items. Will be due for trans service and brake fluid at 80k, as well as A items.

What year is your 204? If it’s late ‘11 or newer trans service is due every 70k instead of every 40k.

2009 with 69k. Still trying to contact the dealer to see if they can run the vin so I can see previous service records.

Just a carfax, I’m planning on seeing if the dealer can run the VIN so I can get an idea of the recent services.

The services do repeat. Service A is an oil change basically and it’s scheduled to remind you every year or every 2 years.

Awesome, thanks. Just had an oil change done last month.. So I’m guessing all I have to do is get the code cleared. Then all I have to do is replace the lower front mesh grill because of some holes and the car should be good.

Planning on getting it tinted very soon and maybe wrapping the middle part of the front bumper in gloss black, PO didn’t know how to park so a shit ton of scratches all over..

I think there is a way to reset it yourself you might have to google it. I did exactly what you want to do, not because of any scratches but because it makes the car look bad ass:

Kinja'd!!!

I’m actually thinking about wrapping my spoiler in Matte black.

Kinja'd!!!

Gonna look around on benzworld to see how I can reset it. That looks awesome! Did you do it yourself? I think the spoiler would look pretty good too. Or even just doing the roof, I got lucky and have the panoramic roof, black roof looks great. How do you think it would look on Mars red? It would stand out more, not sure if good or bad though. Picture of “the damage”

I thought about doing the roof but to be honest I didn’t think the cost justified the look. The idea I have for my car is similar to what this guy did except I want to have a matte black spoiler and keep the chrome on the trunk handle and 3 point star and I don’t want to tint the tail lamps.

Kinja'd!!!

Now as for the damage, I don’t think you should cover the entire front bottom fascia, I thought you only wanted to do the center. Maybe look into buying a Godhand Front lip maybe even a used one, it will go over the entire bottom and cover up those scratches and is compatible with your model year also makes the car look even more aggressive:

I think that’ll look great on your car. Palladium is a great color with black accents.

And I do only plan on doing the center part, just like how you did. Pretty much like this minus the black grill.. Although I really like the look of the C63 single fin.

Well if you ever get that lip it’ll increase your MPG by 1 or 2 from what others who have it said.

I like the look of the single fin too I’m debating if I want to get one as I am a huge fan of my grill too and feel like the single fin can make the front look stubby from some angles.

I'm debating if I want to plastidip the badges myself or not, I've never used the stuff before.

Kinja'd!!!1

That’s pretty interesting, if I ever get a new set of wheels (which I eventually hope to do) I will definitely look into that lip, don’t think the car is aggressive enough yet.

For badges plastidip will be fine, super easy to use. If you were able to wrap the lower part of your bumper the dip should come out flawlessly. There’s something you can use to make the dip glossy too. Gloss black grills would look awesome on palladium.

Honestly, if all the chrome was gloss black it would look badass.. But the chrome looks great too.

I paid someone to wrap the front $80. The cost to wrap the trim around the windows was $180 and that seems excessive. I looked up videos on plastidip but still not sure if I should let a pro do it. I'm saving up for tires, thought about new wheels but I have no space for the stock ones.

Kinja'd!!! AM3R shamefully returns > Rico

Kinja'd!!!1

That’s pretty reasonable for the front bumper.. And yeah the window trim is always expensive. I think trying to dip the badges yourself is at least worth a shot since a can won't even set you back $10.. So if you mess up you can just peel it off.
